PUREXA JOURNAL / BOTANICAL RESEARCH

Soursop, seen
in finer detail.

What did the researchers study?

They compared leaves, stem bark and seeds from three related plants, including soursop, collected in Angola. They used steeped, simmered and alcohol-and-water preparations.

What did they find?

Water-based soursop-leaf preparations contained polyphenols, a group of natural plant compounds. These preparations also showed antioxidant activity in laboratory tests.

Why does this matter for tea drinkers?

Both steeping and simmering drew these compounds out of the leaves. That makes these findings more relevant to brewed tea than tests using seeds, bark or alcohol-based extracts.

What can’t this study tell us?

This was laboratory research, not a human trial or a test of PUREXA tea. It does not establish health benefits or a safe amount to drink.

Study details

Plants compared: Annona muricata (soursop), Annona squamosa and Annona senegalensis.

The findings describe the samples and laboratory preparations tested in this study.
